What did you do this past week?

During this past week, I spent a lot of time catching up with some friends that I had not seen in a long time. I also took the time to join the first events of some student organizations on campus and did a lot of planning for many of my upcoming academic and professional goals.

What’s in your way?

As of right now, the only thing I might view as being in my way is that I have been missing my family a lot lately due to being around them for so long throughout the past few months. However, they truly are my motivation, and I am looking forward to seeing them soon.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I plan to spend some more time planning out some upcoming goals as well as ultimately working towards these goals. I also hope to be able to take part in the upcoming events and activities of the student organizations that I am a member of.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #2: Makefile?

Overall, though the Makefile did seem to be a little complex when I first saw it, I definitely think that all of the content began to really make a lot of sense after I was able to carefully read through the lines. The comments and format of the file also really helped in my understanding of the content and made the file seem very organized.

What was your experience of assertions, unit tests, and coverage?

I have definitely used assertions throughout my previous Computer Science courses in order to test and debug so I think that I am fairly familiar with them. During my internship this past summer, I was also able to utilize unit tests and coverage in order to test my code which also helped me in becoming familiar with them as well.

What made you happy this week?

I was really happy to be able to spend some time calling and talking to my family during this past week as I have not been able to see them for a few weeks now. I was also able to try a lot of new foods that I had been looking forward to trying for a while.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

It is important to ensure that there is good lighting at the location that you choose to spend time programming at to prevent eye strain and fatigue. Sometimes, the addition of a desk lamp can be very useful in ensuring that you are able to spend time programming while providing the best experience for eyes and body overall.
