CS 371P Fall 2021: Bruce Nguyen

What did you do this past week?

I continued to work on a lot of preparation for this current recruiting season during this past week. I also had an exam to take so a lot of my time was also spent studying and preparing for the exam. Aside from these two things, I also took the time to meet up with my project partner this week and work through the Voting project for my Object Oriented Programming class.

What’s in your way?

I am a really big fan of acai bowls, however, I have not been able to get one recently due to my busy schedule. I have heard a lot about a specific place that has really good acai bowls, so I am really looking forward to being able to try out this new place soon.

What will you do next week?

This upcoming week, I am looking forward to spending some time at the events and activities for my student organizations. I also hope to continue working on the assignments and coursework for my classes. I am also looking forward to seeing my friends and spending some time with them as well.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #6: Single Responsibility Principle?

I definitely agreed with the thoughts and ideas mentioned in the paper. I think that it is definitely important to keep Single Responsibility Principle in mind when developing software in order to develop software as effectively and as efficiently as possible. It is also a great practice that helps to ensure that your implementations are correct overall.

What was your experience of stack, queue, priority_queue, values, pointers, and references?

I definitely have had some experience with these concepts in my past courses, however, I am very excited to be able to further my understanding of them in Object Oriented Programming. I think that I am now able to more clearly differentiate between the use of pointers and references through the content presented in the past few lectures.

What made you happy this week?

I was able to take my UTCS Pod students to go bowling this past week! I think this opportunity was a great way to help my students relax and reward themselves after finishing their first CS exam this past week. I also had a lot of fun planning future events for my students.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

After programming for a while, it is extremely important to remember to eat proper meals at the right time. I have definitely found that I have the best thoughts and ideas for my programming projects after I have a good meal. It is also vital to eat proper meals at the right time simply to ensure that you are taking care of your personal health overall.
