What did you do this past week?

I spent a lot of time working on my group project for my Software Engineering course. I also got to meet some friends that I had not seen in a long time. As the weather was on the colder side, I also spent some time outside to enjoy the breeze.

What’s in your way?

Currently, there is not much in my way. I am definitely missing some friends from Houston though! After being able to catch up with some high school friends over the phone recently, I was reminded of my high school memories.

What will you do next week?

I am planning on completing the first phase of the IDB project with my team in my Software Engineering course. I also look forward to being able to spend more time outside while the weather is still on the colder side. As I have an exam coming up, I will also be sure to continue studying consistently.

What did you think of Paper #6: Open-Closed Principle?

I definitely thought that this week’s paper had many great points on the design of entities in software development. There were many points in the paper that I had definitely heard about before in my courses. I look forward to keeping the Open-Closed Principle in mind as I continue to design and develop software.

What was your experience of for in, reduce, object models, and operators?

As I have used for each loops before, I am decently familiar with them overall. I am also familiar with operators as I utilized them in my previous projects as well. I was not too familiar with the topics on object models and operators, so I think the lectures were a great opportunity for me to learn more about them!

What made you happy this week?

During this past week, I was really happy to have been able to meet with my Software Engineering project group! I am definitely thankful for my team members and have enjoyed being able to work with them. I look forward to advancing through the project phases in this course with them!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

For developers who utilize laptops with backlit keyboards, I recommend turning off the keyboard light when using the laptop in bright settings. This will help conserve the battery life of the laptop! Paying attention to the battery life of a laptop can allow developers to continue software development for longer periods of time when there is no nearby charging cord or outlet.
