What did you do this past week?

This past week, I spent some time attending the events and activities held by the student organizations that I am a part of. I was also able to finish a lot of the assignments that I had for my courses. Following the winter storm that occurred last week, I also spent some time reaching out to my friends to ensure that they are still safe and warm.

What’s in your way?

There is not anything that is really in my way but I really do miss the food from a few restaurants back in Houston. As it has been a while since I have been back home in Houston, I have not been able to have some of the food from the restaurants there. The thought of these foods reminds of the memories I had with my family and friends back in Houston!

What will you do next week?

During the upcoming week, I am going to be continuing my work on my course assignments and projects. I also will be spending some time with family and friends that I had not seen in a long time. I look forward to also possibly registering for the Longhorn Run as well!

What did you think of Paper #4: Pair Programming?

As a developer who has used the pair programming technique in the past, I definitely am aware of the benefits of the technique on software development. The paper does a great job of explaining each aspect of the technique along with the effects of each component of pair programming. I hope to continue utilizing the pair programming technique in many of my future projects!

What was your experience of exceptions and types?

In my previous projects, I have definitely used exceptions, therefore I was very familiar with them. Types are also a very familiar concept for me as many of the programming languages that I am familiar with focus on explicitly stating data types. I am very excited to expand on my knowledge of both of these concepts throughout this course.

What made you happy this week?

I was really happy to see that the water boil notice was lifted for the city of Austin. I definitely think that this brings peace of mind to a lot of people around the city of Austin. I also feel relieved to know that the water sources in Austin are now safe overall.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

For developers on tight schedules, I highly recommend using either a physical calendar or a calendar application to ensure that all meetings and events fit into a busy schedule. The use of calendars really does help with sorting out upcoming plans and keeping up with many commitments. It is also very important to be checking the calendar daily in order to be sure of what is coming up for the day.
