What did you do this past week?

Throughout this past week, I took the time to finish up all of my course assignments in order to try to get ahead in all of my classes. I was also able to catch up with a few friends this week that I had not seen in a long time. As this week was the first week of in-person classes, I was also able to spend some time on campus.

What’s in your way?

The only thing that I would consider as being in my way would be the extreme weather that we have been faced with these past few days. This weather has affected many events and activities that were originally going to occur during these past few days including classes. I definitely think that the colder weather overall is really nice, but I am hoping that everyone is currently safe and warm during these days.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I am hoping to be able to continue staying ahead in my class by finishing all of my assignments early. I also look forward to being able to attend many events and activities on campus. I will also be holding an Introductory Pod Meeting for my UTCS Pod next week as it was rescheduled following the storm.

What did you think of Paper #3: Continuous Integration?

This week’s paper mentioned a lot of great points on why it is so important to be using continuous integration throughout development. The use of continuous integration really allows for developers to be able to ensure that each modification made to an implementation is correct. This allows for efficient and effective software development overall. I am definitely looking forward to continuing to utilize continuous integration in my future projects.

What was your experience of UnitTests, Coverage, and IsPrime?

I have definitely used UnitTests and Coverage tools in my previous projects, so I am very familiar with them. The IsPrime problem was also one that I was decently familiar with as it is a very common programming problem. I am hoping to continue developing my skills and experience with these topics through this course!

What made you happy this week?

I was so happy to have been able to try out some new foods this week. There are so many unique and delicious restaurants here in Austin, and I was so thankful to have been able to try a few this past week. I am looking forward to trying out many more restaurants in the future!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

For developers who are worried about having dust or crumbs falling in between the keys on their keyboard, I recommend getting a keyboard cover. A keyboard cover lays over the keys on a keyboard and therefore prevents any dust or crumbs from falling underneath the keys. They also come in many different styles and colors and allow developers to customize the look of their keyboard!
